  Thallus endophloeodal, visible only as bleaching of the substratum. Soredia absent. Medulla absent. Photobiont cells globose, 4–8 µm diam., dispersed or in chains. Apothecia scattered, superficial, 0.1–0.3 mm wide, immarginate, basally constricted to subpedicellate; disc convex to subglobose, pale yellow-grey to grey-black, densely yellow- to yellow-green-pruinose. Proper exciple c. 10 µm thick in section, poorly differentiated, soon ±excluded, yellow-brown, composed of loosely interwoven branched and anastomosing hyphae. Epihymenium colourless to pale yellow-brown. Hymenium pale yellow-brown, 35–45 µm thick. Hypothecium yellow-brown, 60–100 µm thick. Ascospores 3-septate, ellipsoidal to fusiform, straight or slightly curved, 10–15 × 2.5–4.0 µm.
CHEMISTRY: Thallus K–, C–, KC–, P–, UV–; containing vulpinic acid (major), pulvinic dilactone (minor or trace).
     
  This rare, endemic species occurs in Tas.; grows on very old trees in cool-temperate rainforest and wet-eucalypt forest.
